I want to share something that has truly helped change my life in so many ways. I was a member of Narcotics Anonymous for 6 years and this is something that I learned there.Write on the top of a sheet of paper, God, please help me to be: And on the bottom of the paper, God, thank you for helping me be: In the middle of the paper, write down your every desire for the person you would like to become. Some examples from my own list are: responsible, helpful, loving, an awesome wife and mother, a better decision maker, etc.
Say this prayer reading the top part of the paper every morning along with all those items you listed. In the evening, say the bottom line with all your items. OR, if you’re like me and zonk out before you can say a nighttime prayer, say them both in the morning. This little moment out of the day gives me the opportunity to focus on who I am and who I want to be. It allows me to see how I am changing. And the most amazing part is that I am becoming the person on my list more and more everyday. I’ve been doing this for a year now and my life has made a complete 180. I have learned to make healthier choices and to treat people better. My heart has grown from cold and resentful to loving and grateful. Life isn’t always perfect, but it’s a heck of a lot better than it used to be. Post a comment
