The race I am in, the Open Recreational 5k, is set to start tomorrow morning at 9:00am. Apparently there is supposed to be 30,000 people there in the morning and we will all be taking shuttles from the RBC Center over to Meredith College, where the festivities are. That will be interesting! I am drinking plenty of water today to prepare for running in the heat. Earlier this week I was able to run the complete 5k on my treadmill without any problems. It felt great! So my goal for tomorrow is to run the whole thing. I am not so much concerned with the time at this point as I am with just running the whole distance. I will make sure to post pictures tomorrow after we get back! I’ve asked Hubby to make sure he gets some shots of me actually crossing the finish line. I can’t believe it’s finally here!

You are my hero! I am trying to lose weight so that I can participate in some of these races/walks for different causes. I had a recent weight gain due to medical reasons and have recently lost 7 lbs. I love working out but at 198 when you are 5′2″ it is stories like this that keep me motivated! I can do it! I had written a post on how incorporate fun and rewards into my exercise program, and mentioned doing races just as you mentioned in there. That is one of my goals! Love your pics! You Go Girl! http://buzz.prevention.com/community/sofiah/exercise-a-chore-no-more Enjoy! I would love to hear what you do to keep motivated and if you once found exercise was once a chore how you changed it around so it is not ANYMORE! Thank you for this post and I am glad I found this site!

Thanks Sofiah! Your words mean a lot… its so nice to know that they helped you. I think exercise can become a chore when I forget how important it is and only see the time/effort it takes. I recently stopped my treadmill routine for a couple of weeks and it didn’t take long for my mental health to slip. I was cranky, negative, and much more emotional. Then I started my routine back up and I’ve bounced back to my positive, life-loving self. The difference is uncanny. Thanks for the link to your blog! I’ll be stopping by for a visit. Post a comment
