Is there any value to an edition of copyright 1950 Book of Knowlege Childrens Encyclopedia?
My parents bought this set of encyclopedias when I was very young. Now we are moving from the old family home. I need to know if there is any value to this set...will determine weither or not we just dispose of it or hang onto it.
No value. Old sets of encyclopedias are easily found for $1 to $5 at Library book sales. You can't even give them away at yard sales. However, if you have not purchased an updated set, I'd hang on to it. Consider it for those times you need something brief to read. Pull out a volume and start reading at random. Your children will also benefit from having a physical set of encyclopedias in the house.

Why would Parents be a child's encyclopedia?
I need some ideas on what to write about this topic.
You want to know about the moon. Where do you turn? You'll probably say, "google," but rewind a few years, and you'd probably go check the word "moon" out in an encyclopedia. Now, a small child wants to know more about Mr. Moon, so what does he/she do? Runs straight to mom or dad and asks. Children look up to their parents for just about EVERYTHING. They learn so much stuff from their parents- words, phrases, meanings, definitions, mannerisms, and the list goes on. They turn to their parents for advice, for understandings of just about everything they come across, and depend on their parents for explanations for everything their little minds are curious about, similar to how we as adults would consult an encyclopedia looking for honest, factual information. Just about every small child believes that whatever their parents say is true. Therefore, their parents are their encyclopedia.
What is the collection of 1974 World Book Encyclopedia worth?
My parents have the full set and is wondering what it is worth, considering it's antique.
In Dollars if you sell it to a historian they may give you a few grand my uncle is a historian so I asked him about it, he said that they are useful for the studies. I might keep it for a while because they will be worth more in about 20 years
What should I do with all my old encyclopedia volumes? They are 30 plus years old?
They were my parents and I just don't have room for them anymore.
Donate them to the Salvation Army or a similar group. Take them to an Antique Store & see if they are interested in purchasing them from you.... You may be surprised to learn that they have a buyer for you! Otherwise eBay is a great alternative- BUT make certain, your Buyer handles the shipping expense!
