Nooooo!!Do you smell that?  No?  Wait… wait for it… Yep!  You guessed it.

The smell of fresh cut grass.  Maybe.

Okay, so I lost Week 2, folks.  Apparently burning 50 gazillion calories during my 5k run wasn’t enough to push me past Hubby’s 2.2 pounds of weight lost this week.  Yeah, you read it right.

Official numbers are as follows:  Hubby lost a total of 2.2 pounds this past week.  And I lost a total of .4 of a pound.

I’m not discouraged though!!  Oh no, my friends, I have the heart of a fighter (poor Hubby, I know) and I am not going to give up!  Plus I suspect there are reasons for the small number this week.  I have a feeling that I retained a lot of water from the run on Saturday.  (I had been weighing less all week long until Sunday.)  And there are also feminine reasons that need no further explanation.  (Never in my life did I imagine that I would be blogging about that!!!)

This momentary setback only furthers my determination to win this Weight War!  GRRRRRR!!!!  (Can you tell I’m getting all pumped up?)  Help me stay motivated!!!  I don’t want to be that lady in the picture!!!  And I sure as heck wouldn’t be smiling!!!

What do you do to get all pumped up?!  How do you keep up your momentum and motivation?  And seriously, I need help with this one because summer and ice cream are synonymous in my mind… what are you eating instead of ice cream in the summer?!

RunnersI’m taking the plunge into uncharted territory!  Something I never dreamed of doing in a million years, something so far beyond what I ever imagined for myself, yet something so very representative of my new way of life.  I’m signing up for my first 5k run!  Holy moly!  I know!  (If you are fan of the show Friends, just imagine Monica screaming, I know! and you’ll understand how I’m saying it!)

So my race (because now that I’m joining, it is, of course, my race) is on July 26th in Asheville, NC at what is known as Bele Chere.  It’s a fun street festival that we’ve been to before, and yet somehow I never knew about the race.  (Too busy stuffing my face with funnel cake?  Perhaps.)  The last time we attended Bele Chere, it was a very hot day.  Luckily the smart people that set these things up have the run scheduled for 8:00 am.  Here is some basic info on the run.

A Complaint Free WorldMy daughter has started whining.  This must come with toddler-hood because she rarely whined as a baby.  But her new way of expressing her emotions is through scrunching up her face and spitting out this high-pitched whine.  And oh no, not just once or twice, but over and over and over.

So it got me thinking about whining and it reminded me of a story I heard about last year.  It’s about a pastor from a church in Kansas City who decided to encourage his entire congregation to become complaint-free.  (Apparently his congregation had been full of trivial complaints and it was really having a negative impact on them.)

Accountability.  It’s funny how being accountable can change things.  I discovered on Saturday that if the people around me know that I am on a “diet” or as I prefer to say, “being healthy”, then I tend to eat more responsibly.

My in-laws were in town this past weekend for Easter and after my father-in-law offered me some Burger King breakfast sandwhiches and other breakfast treats for the third time, I finally explained that I am trying to eat healthy.  It wasn’t a big deal or anything but they’ve seen me pig out on cookies and other yummy treats at their house before so it was important for me to let them know.
